Our Priority strand: Dance

As part of our ongoing efforts to receive our Active Flag. We are focusing on one strand of the PE curriculum each year. Our Active Committee and school staff have discussed various ways that we can improve our approach to teaching the PE curriculum. Over the last year we have prioritized the dance strand. 

We have found the PSSI website to be a fantastic resource. We also had to think outside the box on ways we could promote the dance strand in our school and invited two local dancers (Hip-hop and performance) to the school to teach the boys new hip moves. The boys really enjoyed both. 

We have included dancing activities to our Active breaks and wet breaks. We are so lucky to have interactive whiteboards in each class, this makes dance videos and music accessible at any point of the day. We also play music on the yard at lunch time which has encouraged the boys(and the teachers) to bust a few dance moves on the yard. Our teachers run a dance club after school and boys from each class get a chance to go.
